Spanish Summer of Code

I never mentioned it because I didn’t want to jinx it, but a little while ago I applied to participate in an intensive web development course run by Ironhack. The course runs for 8 weeks in Barcelona, Spain and covers all the latest in front end development. Well, after two interviews and a few email conversations with previous students, I found out that I have been accepted!

I’ve been hoping to do something like this course for a while now. As I never had any real formal training in web development, I feel like this will be a real boost to my confidence in the field. For the last two years or so working as a consultant I feel like I have been moved further and further away from my real interests in web dev and the restrictions of my current role have been getting tighter and tighter. When I discussed taking some time off to do this course with my manager he seemed quietly hopeful that we could use it to reposition me within the company so that I can be a web developer again. That was music to my ears.

I’m super excited.
