Festi’Nîmes

Last weekend was the This is Not a Love Song festival in nearby Nîmes. We were initially drawn to it because Dinosaur Jr was on the lineup, but there were loads of great bands to see!

The venue, Paloma, was pretty amazing – four stages in different settings – and there were of course lots of food trucks, although some people brought their own snacks, like this guy while LUSH played with his two baguettes…

Some highlights were: Battles, Explosions in the Sky, Tortoise and a French band called Bon Voyage Organisation who really got everyone dancing.

We rented a car for the weekend and drove down each day, which was an interesting choice, but worked out really well. On the last night, we decided to drive out to the Pont du Gard after an amazing set from Tortoise. We pulled into the deserted carpark, unsure if we would be able to get out again and walked across to see the amazing Roman aqueduct all lit up and fancy against the dark valley. An amazing end to a fabulous weekend.
